Packing in general can be a TO DO, but packing for a year is a daunting task. With a little less than a month away from our departure, we have started the packing process. We are going through our closet, separating what we will need from what will be donated, to what will be stored in our storage unit. And with Greg being 6’2, 200 lbs. plus and wearing a size 13 shoe, articles of clothing will be difficult to impossible to find in Korea. Being prepared and packing thoroughly will be crucial.
Many have asked us what we are bringing with us and if we are shipping anything over. Our goal is simplicity. We will be moving into a fully furnished home in Korea, so we are just bringing what we can check and carry on the plane. This means: two suitcases, two carry-ons and our beloved pups in their "airline approved" carriers. While our goal is simplicity, there are a few items that we have grown accustomed to that will not be available in Korea.
One of those items you will not find in Korea is tampons, so yes, we will be going to the store to purchase a year supply of tampons...Greg can’t wait! Then for items that may not be readily available or very expensive if found is deodorant, so a year supply of that too please! I have also heard that Korean toothpaste tastes like licking a bus bench after a 100 degree day, so we have to decide whether or not it is worth taking up space over another shirt or dress that could be needed.
This shall be an interesting pack job. We will be sure to post our actual packing list...I know, exciting!

We are actually DOING it!
We are doing it! We are packing up our belongings, well only 2 suitcases each, our two spoiled little dachshunds and moving to South Korea. The topic of going to Korea to teach English has been a discussion between Greg and I for over 2 years now, but as of last week we have accepted a position, signed our contracts, and sent in our very valuable documents that have overwhelmed us for the last 6 months. We are filled with excitement along with a bit of apprehension, but we are ready for an adventure and no doubt this shall be one! There are moments when we will just look at one another and just start laughing..."Are we crazy!? Are we really doing this!?"
So, with this we have decided to create a blog to chronicle our new life overseas. Stay tuned...
